Scott Gray, LCSW
Round Rock

I have a passion for people and doing my part in helping those struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, relationship struggles, communication difficulties, addiction, and self-acceptance. I am a strong advocate for removing any stigma related to mental health counseling as well as leveling the field for marginalized people groups. In a society where we often learn by what we do incorrectly, I focus on individual strengths while also recognizing the role less adaptive thoughts and behaviors play in learning to navigate life in a complex and ever-changing world.

As a clinician, I try to meet individuals where they are in what they are currently struggling with and my therapeutic approach various based on the individual. Through compassion, empathy, understanding, and seeing life problems as opportunities to learn and grow as opposed to something to cast judgment upon, I hope to ally with clients in helping them reach their identified goals. I use the therapeutic relationship, client strengths, cognitive behavioral methods, and motivational interviewing techniques to help individuals struggling with various life problems.

Clients can expect to be accepted for who they are, be heard, be challenged, and hopefully be inspired to identify and use their strengths to find the best possible way to navigate their circumstances. I'm a believer that much of therapy is done outside of a session when individuals practice what is learned within a session. I also recognize the therapeutic value of being able to share and/or discuss sensitive details confidentially for the simple purpose of cathartic expression. Clients can expect to be supported as they work towards managing or alleviating difficulties that led them to seek counseling services.
